$OOpah NIN10Doh! is COMPLETE!!!!

For real this time.

I just want to say that everybody who worked on this did a fantastic job! We all put a lot of work into this thing & you all should be very proud. Congrats to EVERYONE!!!!

This is what I like best about animating & drawing cartoons : you're doing something just for the fun out of it, working alongside a group of people that talk, think & care about the same things you do, getting a few laughs here & there & in the end it goes out & makes other people happy too... that's the greatest reward there is.

& also, a late "Happy 20th Birthday" to the brainchild behind this crazy thing: Chris Niosi! Congratulations, my good friend!!!

By the way, see the little furry dude in the picture above?... be on the lookout for him when you watch the movie. He pops in & out throughout the course of the film. He's like the Aracuan Bird, except fuzzier & that he has boxing gloves.

Also make sure to check out all the behind-the-scenes stuff I've posted before HERE, (but watch the movie first!)

**UPDATE** 1/5/08 10:00 pm (EST)
The movie's only been up for less than 3 days & we've already reached a little over 100,000 views!!!! That's simply astounding!!! Pats on the back, all around!

Aw screw it... here's some backgrounds...

But to make sure I don't spoil too much, I'm only posting the pencil & ink layouts of the backgrounds. Everything'll look a lot nicer when you see them in color.

When I did the Ice Climbers segment for the last film, I did all the backgrounds in Flash & they all looked like trash that was painted in Microsoft Paint. When I came on board for $oopah NIN10Doh!, I knew that I wanted to raise the production values up a bit this time around, so I did nearly all the backgrounds on paper, scanned & colored them in Photoshop & imported them into Flash. Technology....

More to come soon...

"$oopah NIN10Doh!".....

Well, I might as well finally break the news here now, since it's already been announced everywhere else...
Remember NIN10Doh!, Chris Niosi's Newgrounds film I took part in a few months back? Well, the sequel, $oopah NIN10Doh! is coming out very soon & I'm taking part in this one too! Except this time, I'm doing not 1, but 2 segments!

One of my 2 segments is based off the classic Nintendo game Duck Hunt (ducks... of course). Compared to the Ice Climbers segment I animated for the first installment, this one definitely shows some improvement in my work. There should be no mis-colorings, mistakes or hitches whatsoever like in my old segment. There's more color, more characters, more effects & a LOT more violence.

I don't want to spoil too much for you guys, but here's some character designs & things you'll probably see in the final segment. (If only the drawings I did in Flash looked as decent as my pencil drawings). Later on, after the movie is finally up online, I'll link to it from here as well as post some backgrounds I drew for it. I'll let you guys know immediately when it's up.

NiN10Doh! is COMPLETE!

Hey Everybody!

Remember that Newgrounds movie that I said I had a part in animating? Well it's done & the film is up on Newgrounds! Here's a direct link to the page!:

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/432427 & REMEMBER TO VOTE "5"! WE NEED ALL THE HELP WE CAN GET, FOLKS!

Congratulations to everybody who took part!

After watching the movie, I noticed how many mistakes I made. I still don't understand why the faces blink black every few times, I don't remember seeing that when I sent it off. Oh well, what's done is done. Onto something new!

Nintendo meets Romeo & Juliet

A few months back (probably around late-September, early-October), my roommate Chris Niosi was telling me about a Flash project he was in development on called "NiN10Doh!". The concept of it is just a compilation of Nintendo-themed skits & parodies strewn together into one movie (kinda like Robot Chicken).

He's outsourced a lot of the work to his friends & colleagues to help speed up production & after seeing a short 3-year old FLASH animation of a blob I did at Hofstra, he asked if I'd like to do a segment too. Thinking it would be fun, I said "Absolutely!", not realising how inexperienced I was at FLASH, how difficult it would be to animate & forgetting about how busy my class schedule was at the time.

"Ewww... cooties!"

Since most of the shorter, simpler scenes were already taken, I decided to do the Ice Climbers segment. I chose that particular one because I knew how to construct & draw the characters & that the story concept was funny as hell.

Here's Popo playing Brando playing Romeo

When I finally first sat down to do it, I was completely stumped. I forgot what button did what & what layers were which & I was completely discombobulated. & on top of that, all I had was a cheap, crappy old tablet that barely worked anymore, & there was no way I was going to draw the whole 25-second segment with a mouse. At that point, I decided that I needed a new tablet & that I needed to take a crash course in FLASH, doing both in a weekend's time. Now that I had a new tablet ( A fancy new 10'' Wacom Intuos) & at least some knowledge of the program, I started to work on the piece.

Months have passed since then, & I'm just about done with it. The coloring is complete, the animation is cleaned up (mostly) & the backgrounds are set. All I need to do is redo the snow, since the old snow was a complete mess & then I can send it off to Chris for finalizing & tweaking.
I don't know when the movie will be released, but I know for sure that it'll end up over at NEWGROUNDS.COM very soon. I don't want to spoil the storyline for you or post any of the animation footage just yet, since I haven't gotten clearance from Chris if I could, & even if I could, it probably wouldn't be 'til long after the movie has been put up. I'll post later about the animation once it's online.

I'll let you know when the film is out & I'll link to the film directly from here when it's online. & while you're at it, check out Chris' Blog, deviantART page & official website. Definitely worth the viewing!

"See you later!"
